Rain, rain go away!

It was a very rainy day here, which means torture for Brody, who can't hardly stand to be inside all day. So we went out on our front porch and I thought, "Wow, this is a good alternative. We can be outside and still be out of the rain." It lasted for a little while. Brody looked out the door (with the dog standing on the other side), played with the cat, and even sat in the swing for a little while. But then it just got too boring for him. So I tried to think like Adam and say, "What's it going to hurt if he gets a little wet?" So I opened the door and let Brody go out. He loved it! He splashed from puddle to puddle, threw rocks in the puddles, and stood by the house where the water was falling the hardest. And the best part was that I was still dry on the porch, just watching him. Then I realized that he probably shouldn't stay out too long because he was probably getting cold. That's when the fun started! He wouldn't come in when I asked him too, so I had to go out in the pouring rain to bring him in. When I got him his chin was quivering because he was getting cold. He immediately started screaming because he hates to have to come inside. But I had a dry towel ready for him, so I stripped him down and wrapped him in the towel. I took him straight to a warm bath, and he eventually calmed down. I put his clothes and mine in the dryer and got dry clothes on both of us. Then he settled down with a snack and a cartoon. What did I learn from this? To let Adam think like Adam and I'll keep thinking like a Mom!
